Who
Janet Bang, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at San José State University in Child and Adolescent Development who studies early word learning.
Sara Palencia, MA, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist who works with families to support early language development and positive behavior change. Janet and Sara met over a decade ago while working as university research assistants on a project that coached parents to support their child’s social communication development.
Together, we share a passion for the value of science and the desire to provide useful and engaging resources for families. We’ve distilled our combined research and clinical experiences into these books so that more families can have tools to help their children.
Sarah Ortega is a freelance designer and illustrator, with a master’s in graphic web design and a specialization in illustrations for children’s publications. She has worked hard to enhance the whimsical world of the ZigZag kids.
Why the name ZigZag?
Life doesn’t always go as planned - especially as a parent or caregiver of a young child. We want to help with those twists and turns in life by providing resources to support children and families in a fun and engaging way!
